Lucie Desbiens

Alive in My Stories
Growing Up in Blezard Valley

The first of six children in a francophone home, Lucie heard stories from older generations, and lived more adventures of her own. Now she shares stories with compassion and humour.

The chapters in Alive in My Stories record Lucie’s childhood and teen years, and her story continues. After finishing high school, Lucie earned her teaching degree from L’école des Sciences de l’Education at Laurentian University. She has taught in Port Elgin, Kincardine, and Walkerton.

For her students, she brought stories of her youth, told and responded to en francais. Parents often thanked her for sharing her everyday life with their teenagers.

In 2022, Lucie was elected as a Trustee with the Bruce -Grey Catholic District School Board.

Lucie, her husband, Fern, and their pets live in Port Elgin. Their four children and six grandchildren visit often.
